Summer Day Camp Descriptions Summer 2017

    Week 1 – Exploration June 19-23
Summer is finally here! To start the season off right, we are offering an exciting sampler of camp fun, built around exploring the range of traditional summer camp games and crafts. Enjoy favorites such as Capture the Flag, relay races and obstacle courses, along with painting and other projects. Each day on the Gresham campus includes a refreshing swim in the afternoon. To continue the theme of exploration, campers will hit the trail in the Columbia River Gorge for the Thursday field trip. This is a great introduction to the MHCC Day Camp experience.

    Week 2 – Imaginarium June 26-30
This week is an energetic venture, inviting campers to use their imagination to design their own games and crafts. Imaginarium is all about exploring each camper’s creativity and putting it into action. Afternoons are spent cooling off in the pools. Thursday’s field trip is the Portland Children’s Museum, another wonderful opportunity to create and explore. Dig in to a world of fun and imagination!

    Week 3 – Safari July 5-7
Due to the July 4 holiday, this camp is offered Wednesday-Friday. Save big with a 3-day camp and enjoy the world of animals! Learn about our animal friends through fun crafts and activities and experience the animals themselves with a trip to the Oregon Zoo on Thursday. Wednesday and Friday wrap up each day with afternoon swims. Join the safari or you’ll be sorry!

    Week 4 – Wacky Sports July 10-14
Explore a variety of sports that have a wacky element to them! Campers will invent their own wacky sports while also exercising their artistic side with sports-related crafts. Each afternoon they will enjoy a chance to cool off in the swimming pools for open recreation swim.  Thursday’s field trip to Glow Golf adds up to a wacky week!

Week 5 – Wet and Wild July 24-28
This camp marks the middle of summer and it promises to be a wild, fun and WET adventure! Campers will play water-inspired games and enjoy crafts with a wet and wild twist. Plenty of swimming and outdoor water activities will add up to tons of fun. Thursday’s field trip takes campers to the ultimate wet and wild location, North Clackamas Aquatic Park!

    Week 6 – Superheroes July 31-August 4
Calling all Superheroes! Campers get in touch with their inner super hero/heroine by choosing their own superhero names and abilities, and completing their transformation through crafts such as cape-making and drawing original comic strips. Thursday’s field trip to G6 Airpark will allow campers to test their soaring skills! Come and save the world!

    Week 7 – Silly Science August 7-11
There’s no better way to kick off the first full week of August than with silly science! Witness crazy-cool experiments! Design your own experiments! Immerse yourself in science-related games and crafts. If it all gets a bit slimey or gooey, wash off during the afternoon swim. Thursday’s field trip travels to OMSI, the ultimate science destination. Join us for brainy fun!

    Week 8 – Artful Antics August 14-18
This camp is designed for the artist in all of us! Wake up that inner artist with all things art-inspired. Crafts and activities include ice cube painting, rubber mallet paint splat and nature art, just to name a few. Thursday’s field trip is Skate World, a favorite among our regular campers! Each afternoon is the opportunity to enjoy the pools during open recreation swim. Get drawn to art!

    Week 9 – Adventure  August 21-25
3, 2, 1…blast off to excitement! Campers spend their final camp week exploring different worlds and adventures with games, crafts and treasure hunts. Space? Pirates? Wild West? Fantasy? This camp goes there! More adventure awaits each afternoon with open recreation swim and the chance to tackle the inflatable obstacle course. Need more adventure? Thursday’s field trip to Laser Tag will give everyone a Wild West stand-off for the 21st century. Book your ticket now; this epic adventure is certain to fill up quick!
