Mt. Hood Volleyball Signs Three Top Liberos and More
Head Coach Andrew Clifton has gotten off to a quick start this recruiting season signing the program’s top three liberos.
Hunter Sterkel from Eugene, Oregon was the first of the liberos to sign.
As a 3-year varsity starter at South Eugene High School, Hunter lead the team in digs and digs per game her senior year. She also passed in server receive with an 86% passer rating. Hunter has also played several years of club at Webfoot Volleyball Club, which is a nationally known volleyball club for producing top notch volleyball players.
Courtney Smith is also from Eugene, Oregon was the next of the libero trio to sign. As a four-year varsity starter at Sheldon High School, Courtney was an important part of the program’s success in the last four years. Her tenacious defense and excellent ball control were the main reasons the team has been ranked in the top 20 in state of Oregon for the last several years.
Lexie Walthall was the last of the three liberos to sign her letter of intent with Mt. Hood. Lexie was a 4-year started for Mountain View High School in Meridian, Idaho. In her high school playing career she has also played for some of the best coaches in the area such as Kealy Baughman, Chris Rushing and Patrick Sullivan. As well as helping Mountain View to a successful season Lexie also is the starting libero for Rise Volleyball Club.
As well as the libero trio, Mt. Hood has also signed Hannah Snyder. Hannah is a middle blocker for King’s Way Christian High School who has had a relationship with the Mt. Hood Volleyball program since last summer. After attend the summer camp, Hannah had a breakout season on her high school team as well as a successful club season with Northwest Reign Volleyball Club.
