Saints Teams Update
Sports Update (Nov. 1, 2013)
The Saints are the Dorian Harris Tournament Champions! The Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) Saints stormed through the tournament last weekend, only losing one set during the championship game against second ranked Olympic College.
The third ranked Saints took down Wenatchee Valley Community College (25-13, 25-11, 25-20); Whatcom Community College (25-16, 25-13, 25-16); Umpqua Community College (25-11, 25-3, 25-15) and Tacoma Community College (26-24,25-22, 25-18) before beating the Olympic Rangers for the championship in four sets (25-23, 25-22, 20-25, 25-20).
The Saints were led by tournament MVP Lihau Perreira and all-tournament team members Keely Siegel and Xayna Robinson. Perreira was named the NWAACC Offensive Player of the Week for her performance.
The Saints women’s team took second at the Southern Region Cross Country Championships Oct. 26 at Clackamas Community College. Emily Trosino finished in second place for the Saints, and Haley McDonald (10th) and Courtney Andre (20th) ran strong to lead the Saints to the runner-up finish.
The men’s team ran to a fourth place finish and were led by Brandon Raleigh (12th), Taylor Hybl (14th) and Auston Burns (20th).
The Saints cross-country teams has the weekend off as they prepare for the Northwest Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC) Championship Nov. 9 at Lewisville State Park in Battle Ground, Wash.
