CONTRACT RATIFICATION -- Debbie Derr, MHCC president, Diane Noriega, MHCC District Board chair, Sara Williams, Full-Time Faculty Association (FTFA) president and Tambi Boyle, FTFA bargaining team chair.
The Full-Time Faculty Association (FTFA) and Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) District Board of Education are pleased to announce that a tentative agreement has been reached in contract negotiations.
FTFA members will vote on the proposed contract in early February. If ratified by the FTFA, the MHCC Board will vote Feb. 17. If approved, the four-year contract will run through September 2017.
Working together, the process remained positive, collaborative and collegial and resulted in a settlement that serves the interests of the students, FTFA and the college. Overall, the tentative agreement focuses on achieving financial savings for the college while preserving faculty rights, faculty loading and safety issues. In addition, the proposal preserves the balance between full-time and part-time faculty.
“After bargaining for over a year, the Faculty Bargaining Team is happy to have reached a settlement and is looking forward to having both parties ratify the agreement,” says Tambi Boyle, chair of the FTFA bargaining team.
Debbie Derr, MHCC president, adds, “I appreciate the perseverance and professionalism from all involved in this process to reach a resolution that supports student learning in a caring and supportive environment. I am thrilled that a final agreement is close at hand.”
