MHCC Joins Governor in Observing Career-Technical Education Month
Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) is joining in Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber’s proclamation that February is Oregon Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month.
“By partnering with the business community, CTE programs are investing in students’ lives with the latest technology and skills that will prepare them to become successful employees as well as future leaders,” says Marc Goldberg, executive dean of Industrial Technology, Workforce Development & Partnerships.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, nearly one-third of the fastest growing occupations will require an associate degree or a postsecondary vocational certificate. At a time when job opportunity is so critical, CTE programs in every community are ensuring that students are adequately equipped with the skills to successfully enter the workforce.
MHCC Offers More Than 70 Choices
MHCC offers more than 70 CTE programs -- from Accounting Assistant to Wilderness Leadership and Experiential Education. In 2013, MHCC awarded 692 degrees in CTE areas (as well as 532 transfer degrees and 229 certificates).
