Fireplace Gallery’s March Exhibit Draws Upon Artist’s Personal Experiences
Posted: February 20, 2014
“Ebb and Flow” is the title of the art show at Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) Fireplace Gallery, March 4 – 27.
The artist, James M. Lilly, says, “Each piece takes on a very personal theme. Some are tributes to people, special places and things that I observed and experienced with my family as a child. Others are private observations that comment about adult life. These may seem mundane or insignificant to some, but are important to me.”
He asks viewers of Ebb and Flow to “Examine the individual elements of each piece with the desire that they will be incited to draw their own conclusions about their relationships and meaning.” Lilly also says, “I hope the viewer can experience the essence of that particular place or feeling that I have felt, or perhaps be reminded of a similar moment in his or her own life.”
The Fireplace Gallery is located in the Student Union on the Gresham Campus, 26000 S.E. Stark St. The gallery is open Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. – 7 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Parking on all MHCC campuses is fee, no permit required.
