• MHCC Foundation Scholarship Season Open Now Thru March 31

The Mt. Hood Community College Foundation’s scholarship season is now open, and current and potential MHCC students can apply online up until March 31. In 2017, the Foundation awarded $411,000, resulting in scholarships for approximately a third of all applicants. A similar number of available scholarships are expected for 2018-19.

The MHCC Foundation will host a series of scholarship workshops this winter to provide students with guidance and technical assistance throughout the application process. Visit the Foundation’s Facebook page (facebook.com/mhccfoundation/) for upcoming workshop dates.

This year, students have easier access to scholarships than ever before – due largely to investments in a new scholarship coordinator position and an online application/software management system.

“It took some work to get the ball rolling, but the impact on student success through efficient scholarship distribution was well worth it,” said Judianne Charman, MHCC Foundation director of donor relations. “We’re glad to better match up generous scholarship donations with qualified students who need financial assistance.

The primary fundraiser for foundation scholarships is the annual MHCC Foundation Dinner & Auction. In 2017, the dinner and auction raised a record $286,000.
