This February, discover intricately crafted contemporary ceramic art and decor created by Mt. Hood Community College alumni during the Visual Arts Gallery’s exhibit Fired Form: MHCC Clay Alumni Invitational.
See the works of nearly a dozen MHCC alumni at the college's Visual Arts Gallery from Feb. 4 – Feb. 28. The exhibit will feature the work of 11 artists and alumni who graduated from MHCC within the last 20 years. The featured artists include: Molly Anderson, Sarah Chenoweth Davis, Julie Chura, Nancy Daboub, John McLaughlin, Daniel McNamara, Rafael Ordorica, Brenda Scott, Clair Seastone, Shyla Streeter, and Kate Vincent.
“I make handheld works of art as an expression of personal value and a subversive tactic toward changing the fabric of our society,” described Portland-based Sarah Chenoweth Davis. “Seeking to combat convenience in favor of experience, my vessels and pots exist as foils to technological interconnectivity and encourage intimacy through sensuous and haptic experience.”
Fired Form opens Monday, Feb. 4, at the MHCC Visual Arts Gallery (VA20) on the Gresham campus and will run until Feb. 28. An opening reception will take place Thursday, Feb. 7, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Refreshments provided. The community is welcome to attend.
The Visual Arts Gallery at MHCC is open Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. It is closed on weekends and holidays.
