    1. Full-Time Regular Employees

      During employment, full-time College employees, their spouses/domestic partners and eligible dependent children, will be entitled to tuition-free enrollment in Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) courses, including challenge courses and portfolio assessment courses. Any class attendance or class-related responsibility that might interfere with the employee’s work schedule must be approved by the employee’s manager.

      When a full-time employee retires under one of the College’s retirement incentive programs, the retired employee, spouse/domestic partner and eligible dependent children will be entitled to tuition-free enrollment in MHCC courses, including challenge courses and portfolio assessment courses.

      If a full-time employee or a former employee who retired under a retirement incentive program passes away, his/her spouse/domestic partner and dependent children are eligible for tuition-free enrollment in MHCC courses, including challenge courses and portfolio assessment courses. Upon remarriage/new partnership, the spouse/domestic partner will no longer be eligible for tuition-free enrollment; however, eligible dependent children will still be eligible.

      The College services fee, course fees and community education course fees will be charged to all employees, their spouses/domestic partners and eligible dependent children with the exception that, when a course is required for employment, the College services fee will be waived for the employee.
      1. The following persons are eligible for the tuition waiver:
        1. Spouse of the employee
        2. Domestic partner as defined by health coverage eligibility; documentation may be required.
        3. Natural, legally adopted children of the employee through the age of 23
        4. An employee’s stepchildren who qualify as eligible dependents of the employee, through the age of 23; documentation for the dependent status may be required
        5. A child who the employee has been granted legal custodian through the age of 23; proof of legal custodian will be required
        6. Domestic partner’s children who qualify as eligible dependents as defined by health coverage eligibility through the age of 23; documentation for the dependent status may be required+
        7. Eligible dependent children are qualified as long as the employee is supporting them financially at least 50 percent.
        8. Spouse/domestic partner eligible dependent child(ren) of an employee who died while employed full time by the College will be granted tuition waivers based on the above-stated eligibilities

          It is the employee’s responsibility to inform human resources if a family member no longer meets the above stated eligibility requirements.
      2. Part-time Hourly Employees
        Part-time hourly employees who have worked 400 hours or more in the prior fiscal year and are expected to work 400 hours or more in the current fiscal year will be eligible for one three-credit tuition waiver each term during which they are employed. Tuition waiver is non-transferable to a dependent and cannot be accumulated. The Office of Human Resources will verify the 400 hours worked in the prior fiscal year, and the manager will be responsible for confirming the number of hours that will be worked in the current fiscal year.
      3. Part-time Faculty & Tutor Association Members
        Members of the part-time faculty & tutor association will receive tuition waiver benefits as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement between the College and the association
