Marianne Daoust, a resident of Troutdale and an MHCC alum, joined the volunteer committee early on and was integral to the fundraising done by the Friends of MHCC group. Daoust made it a point to meet with numerous business representatives to spread the word not only about the bond, but also about the college itself.
As the MHC Board of Education chair Susie Jones’ commitment to the college is well known. Previous to joining the board, she worked as an MHCC instructor for 13 years, and served as the president of the Mt. Hood Jazz Festival on three separate occasions. When the bond initiative began, Susie embraced the cause and worked tirelessly during the campaign, meeting with community members and business leaders, writing letters and making phone calls, and helping to raise funds.
Their passion, dedication and inspired behind-the-scenes efforts have earned this dedicated duo the titles of Patron Saint for 2016.
They join a long, distinguished line of MHCC Patron Saints, reaching back to 1968. The honor is given to those individuals recognized for their outstanding volunteer work and/or generous contributions to Mt. Hood Community College.
