Certified Nursing Assistant 1:

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA1) training at Mt. Hood Community College is approved by the Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN). The 150-hour course includes lecture material, skills lab experience and clinical site application to help prepare for the state certification exam. MHCC typically offers this training as traditional classroom program or Vocational ESL Nursing Assistant trainings are offered each term.

A Certified Nursing Assistant is a valuable member of the health care team. You will be providing direct care and attending to needs of patients/ residents in varying health care settings. As a Nursing Assistant, you will likely be the one with the most interaction with the patient/resident

Certified Nursing Assistant 2-(CNA 2):

The Certified Nursing Assistant 2-Acute Care training provided at Mt. Hood Community College is an Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) approved 84 hour program. The class includes lecture, lab and clinical experience that will enhance a CNA 1's career and provide them with the certification that the hospitals are looking for when they are hiring. After passing the final examination and successfully participating in the clinical hours, OSBN will recognize the student as a CNA 2. This program is offered in the traditional classroom setting and classes are offered each term.

What is a CNA 2?

This course has been designed to assist students who hold a current unencumbered CNA 1 certification in enhancing their skills and improving their hiring potential. Students will learn additional skills like checking blood sugar, and running an EKG, as well as advancing their knowledge of health issues. People who are employed as a CNA 2- Acute care continue to have a high amount of interaction with the person they are caring for while enjoying additional responsibilities. This is an exciting way to advance in your career as a caregiver.
