• MHCC Aquatic Center Community Update

With the recent lifting of COVID-19 mandates, we understand that many people are anxious to know when the MHCC aquatic center will be open for public use.

Originally, we had planned to operate with a minimal schedule over the summer, but we have recently discovered that additional maintenance repairs to our pumps, liner, and ceiling above the indoor pools will need to be completed before we can be operational and able to open to the public. Additionally, we have also recently lost staff, so we are currently not at adequate staffing levels required for opening the pool safely to members of the public.

The timing of these two events led us to the decision to keep the pool closed this summer, with a limited opening for community swim teams in the Fall Term. Our goal is to then open more broadly for classes and general community use (including use by our own faculty, staff and students) in Winter Term 2022.

We will of course be using this time of closure to make necessary repairs and upgrades, and to fill our vacant staffing positions, in order to ensure the pools are safe and functioning properly when we are able to open broadly again based on this timeline.
