The Early Head Start (EHS) program enrolls pregnant moms and children who are birth to 3 years old and who meet eligibility requirements in a variety of program options, including a limited number of child care slots for parents who are working or attending MHCC (see Full Day Programs), and a home-based program involving weekly home visits to families, socialization, and a variety of parent groups.
Socializations
You will have an opportunity to attend group socializations at least 2 times a month with other families. Group socializations are a time that parents and their children can come together and focus on interacting with each other while participating in age appropriate activities. We welcome both mothers and fathers to participate in these groups and provide this time for you to further develop your relationship with your child(ren). Nutritious snacks are provided during all socialization groups.
Expectant Families Early Head Start Parents
Expectant families are served through the home based program. Home visits offer families the opportunity to receive prenatal education, activities to encourage bonding with your baby, as well as monthly socializations and infant massage groups. You will also receive ongoing support from a nurse to learn about your family’s unique concerns and a visit two weeks after the birth of your baby to ensure the well-being of both you and your child.
