  • Give yourself a boost of confidence and some insider information on how to succeed in school and discover a career that you love.

    Start with these college-knowledge courses.

    HD100: College Success
    Students learn about the college culture and community, including college services, policies and procedures; goal setting; time management; educational planning; student responsibility; and learning strategies for college success. Students who complete HD100 are more likely to be successful and stay in school! 1 credit

    And

    HD105: Scholarship Success
    Discover how to research and apply for scholarships. Students learn to create a scholarship portfolio, complete applications for the MHCC Foundation and the Oregon Student Assistance Commission, develop a research strategy, and use valuable internet resources. 1 credit

    Then select a class to explore majors and career options.

    HD110: Career Planning
    For students who have a good idea about what they want to major in or pursue as a career, but need additional information or direction. All HD110 students will take the Strong Interest Inventory. Not open to students who have completed HD208. Online and independent study options available. 1 credit

    Or

    HD208: Career and Life Planning
    For students who don’t know what they want to do in school or in their career, and students who feel like they don’t know what their options are, this course offers a more in-depth version of HD110. All HD208 students will take the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the Strong Interest Inventory. 3 credits

    HD209RES: DEVELOPING YOUR RESUME
    Ready to seek employment? Learn to identify your skills, education, and experience and pull them all together to create a professional resume and cover letter targeted toward specific jobs and positions. 1 credit

    And/Or

    HD225: Transferring to a Four-Year College or University
    This course examines the various processes, requirements, and issues that can impact a successful transition from a community college to a four-year degree program. 2 credits
