• Mechatronics - How to Get Started

  • Registering for Mechatronics program courses for Fall 2020

There is no application process to register for Mechatronics program courses. Mechatronics is an open entry program that begins in the fall term only. The enrollment limit is 18. Prospective students are admitted on a space available basis after academic criteria has been met. Registration for fall term begins in May.

Follow this simple 4-step process to register

    1. Submit an MHCC general admission application at https://my.mhcc.edu/ics/Admissions. New students and those returning after four terms or more will need to submit this form.

    2. Complete the Mechatronics Program Interest Form here. You will then get an email from Program Faculty to set-up a meeting to create an education plan and receive priority registration for Fall term. Please note, this form is not a program application. Students will register for program courses first come, first serve after meeting the admission criteria.

    3. Meet the minimum academic requirements in reading, writing and mathematics which can be satisfied by placement into RD115, WR115 and MTH060 or by completing RD090, WR090 and MTH020 (Non-MHCC students need to submit official transcript(s) and request a transcript evaluation. Evaluations can take up to six weeks, please plan ahead).

For information about course placement determination, visit www.mhcc.edu/cpt or call 503-491-7591.

    4. Register for the course MEC101 which will then place you into the Mechatronics fall term courses for a total of 13 credit hours.

If you try to register, and it shows the course is full, get on the waitlist for the course. Students will manually be moved from the waitlist if a spot becomes available and the Admissions Department will notify you of the registration.

    Continuation Requirements for Winter Term

Fall term students must have the consent of their Mechatronics program faculty adviser and meet the prerequisites of the program courses to be qualified for Winter term Mechatronic courses. At that time, the student's major will be changed to Mechatronics. Until Winter term, you'll be considered a general student.
