Thanks to a newly rekindled partnership with the Mt. Hood Pops, instrumental students in the music department at Mt. Hood Community College will now have the opportunity to earn credit and gain performance experience while playing with the acclaimed symphony orchestra.
The Mt. Hood Pops is a community orchestra directed by Ken Selden, Director of Orchestral Studies at PSU and Tim Gilson, MHCC Music Faculty/Orchestra.
“The Mt. Hood Pops previously rehearsed on campus, but the partnership had been lost several years ago,” said Dan Davey, music instructor. “We are excited to welcome them back to campus and provide our students with an expanded ensemble experience with a wonderful community orchestra.”
Students will be able to enroll for Fall Term and play with the Pops as part of their large ensemble course requirement.
Public performances begin in October 2019. Concerts are held at 3:30 p.m. and are currently scheduled on the following dates:
Sunday, 10/13/2019
Saturday, 12/7/2019
