    Wayne Machuca is one of the lead instructors for the ISTM Cybersecurity and Networking.

    He has been teaching full time since 1999 and is a tenured instructor at Mt Hood Community College. He has obtained a variety of certifications including Palo Alto Academy Cybersecurity Accreditation (PACA), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Security+, HL7, Oracle, and FEMA Security.
    Wayne holds a PhD from Northcentral University.

    Paul Morris is the senior ISTM faculty at MHCC.

    He has been teaching full time since 1972, is a tenured instructor at Mt Hood Community College, and recently retired in 2018. However, he continues to teach with us in his retirement days as available.  Mr. Morris has obtained a variety of certifications including Palo Alto Academy Cybersecurity Accreditation (PACA), CCNA and CCAI.

    Mr. Morris was awarded the Distinguished Teaching Award on June 3, 2014.  He hold a Master’s Degree from Seattle Pacific University.

    Erika H Ruhl is one of the primary instructors for the Mt. Hood Community College Computer Game Development Program. An Art Institute of Portland Graduate, Silicon Valley Native and past winner of the Mt. Hood Community College Excellence in Teaching award, she can be been seen haunting game and 3D events, the occasional discussion panel, and formerly as a Women in Animation PDX Chapter board member. She divides her time between teaching, freelancing, playing games, and her own personal indie projects

    Erika holds a Masters Degree from the University of Advancing Technology.


    Tobin Shields | ISTM Faculty

    Tobin Shields is a full-time faculty member at Mt. Hood Community College and teaches coursework relating to cybersecurity, operating systems, and web development. He has obtained a Master’s of Education degree from Portland State University and a Master’s of Science in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance from Western Governors University. This combination ensures that students get to learn high level technology concepts from someone who uniquely understands how to meet the needs of students and deliver high-quality instruction. Tobin also has demonstrated a professional understanding of cyber topics as he also currently is CompTIA Security+ certified, and is also a Certified Ethical Hacker and Computer Forensics Hacking Investigator via the EC-Council. Tobin is passionate about cyber security and preparing his community for a career in information technology.


    Jeff Sperley | ISTM Faculty

    Jeff Sperley has served in a variety of roles at MHCC, has been teaching since 2013, and is a valuable asset to ISTM Cybersecurity and Networking.  He has obtained a variety of certifications including Security+ and Cisco’s CCNA, and has been certified to teach both Cisco and Palo Alto Networks courses.

    Jeff holds a Master’s Degree from Warner Pacific College (now Warner Pacific University).
