What is DACA? 

DACA, is a status given to certain students who entered the U.S. from another country before their 16th birthday (and before 2007), have been continually residing and attending school in the U.S. and have finished high school or attained their GED®. If you are undocumented or have DACA or a Temporary Protected Status (TPS), you cannot have federal financial aid.

¿Qué es DACA? 

DACA es un estatus otorgado a ciertos estudiantes que ingresaron a los Estados Unidos desde otro país antes de su decimosexto cumpleaños (y antes de 2007), han residido de manera continua y asistido a la escuela en los Estados Unidos, y han completado la escuela secundaria o obtenido su GED®. Oregon students that have undocumented status, DACA and/or Temporary Protected Status (TPS) should file an Oregon Student Aid Application (ORSAA). 

Los estudiantes de Oregón que tienen estatus indocumentado, DACA y/o Estatus de Protección Temporal (TPS) deben presentar una Solicitud de Ayuda Estudiantil de Oregón (ORSAA). 
 
You should file your ORSAA as soon as possible after Oct. 1 for the following school year (which begins with summer term at MHCC).  Try to apply no later than February to ensure you are considered for the Oregon Opportunity Grant. Please file an admissions form if you are a new MHCC student and have not done so already. 

Deberías presentar tu ORSAA tan pronto como sea posible después del 1 de octubre para el año escolar siguiente (que comienza con el período de verano en MHCC). Scholarships / Becas 

The MHCC Foundation scholarship application for more than $600,000 in scholarships is generally open January through March for the following school year. A smaller application may also open in the fall term. Please visit the scholarship page to learn more.

The Oregon Office of Student Access and Completion (OSAC) application for $10 million in scholarships is generally open from Nov. to March 1 for the next school year. Students who submit by Feb. 15 may receive the $1000 early bird scholarship. Please visit the Oregon student aid website to learn more.

The DREAMer’s Roadmap is an app that helps undocumented students find scholarships.

American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Oregon is an advocacy organization that works to preserve and advance civil rights.

The Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization (IRCO) supports immigrants, refugees, and mainstream community members to be able to support themselves. They strive to foster understanding, compassion, and communication between Oregon's established communities and people who are new to the U.S.

This blog aims to provide resources to undocumented students, their families, and allies. They post scholarships that are open to undocumented students, ways to get through the educational system while undocumented, information on how to apply for DACA, immigration-related events, news on immigration policies, and much more. 

Este blog tiene como objetivo proporcionar recursos a estudiantes indocumentados, sus familias y aliados.
