Mt. Hood Community College's indoor rock wall boasts 2,000 square feet of climbing space, showcasing 20 top rope stations, two roofs, a running crack, and a chimney. With routes tailored for beginners, intermediate, and advanced climbers, the climbing experience caters to various skill levels. Our dedicated climbing staff guarantees a enjoyable and safe time for everyone involved. The climbing wall is open not only to MHCC students and staff but also to community members of all ages.

Classes

The Health and Physical Education Department at MHCC provides an Introduction to Indoor Gym Climbing course for credit or audit every term. Additionally, the department offers credit classes for outdoor rock climbing, catering to both beginner and intermediate climbers.

Belay Certification

Already know how to belay? Take a test with a Rockwall Monitor to be certified at our climbing wall.

Want to learn but don't have the time for a full term class? Take one of our Belay Clinics! The next time you come in, take the test and get certified. Belay clinics are offered on Wednesday starting at 6 p.m. and last about 2 hours.

Policies

To climb the rock wall, all visitors must fully complete a Rockwall Liability Release Form, which must be on file. Climbers under 18 years old need the Rockwall Liability Release Form signed by a legal parent or guardian. Belaying is permitted for individuals aged 14 and above. For climbers under 14 years old, an adult must accompany them and stay in the climbing area.
