Student Retention

  • About Title III Grants

Title III funding is awarded to support schools with low retention and under served populations. The grant helps institutions of higher education to become self-sufficient and expand their capacity to serve low-income, first generation students by providing funds to strengthen the academic quality, institutional management, and fiscal stability of eligible institutions (U.S. Dept. of Education, 2017).

MHCC will utilize Title III to increase student persistence, retention and completion through a series of meaningful interventions that directly impact students. The goal is to reach students during the “critical first year of enrollment,” when the greatest losses in retention typically occur (MHCC, 2016).
