Accessibility Continuing Action Plan

The results of this audit led us to adopting the Corrective Action Plan that follows. This plan will help ensure MHCC is in full compliance with the federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), as amended, while simultaneously incorporating current best practices in this arena.

Accessibility
Mt. Hood Community College is an accessible campus with disabled parking, and elevators to the upper level of the college.

How Can I Receive Services?
The steps included to receive services in Disability Services includes submitting your documentation, applying for Admission, and taking the College Placement Test.

How can Accessible Education Services help me?

College Students with a Learning Disability
Learning disabilities are perceptual disorders that affect the manner which individuals with normal or above average intelligence take in, retain and express information.

Policies & Procedures to Determine Eligibility for Services
Under the ADA and Section 504 individuals with disabilities are guaranteed certain protections and rights to equal access to programs and services.

Documentation Criteria
In order to comply with the guidelines for documentation of a disability, students will need a letter on letterhead stating the diagnosis and symptoms and the impact of the disability on learning.

What is considered a disability?
The definition of a disability is any person who has a physical or mental impairment which limits one or more major life activity and has a record of said impairment.

Accessible E-Text Resources
A resource to help develop accessible documents at the time of creation. There are instructions on how to format text for posting on the Portal, Blackboard, e-mail and online.

Scholarships and Financial Assistance
There are a number of scholarships and financial assistance available through various organizations. Each scholarship has its own application and requirements.

Service Animal Policy
In accordance with the Justice Department and the Americans with Disabilities Act, individuals with disabilities requiring the use of a service animal can participate in all activities at all Mt. Hood Community Colleges sites.

Arranging Accommodated Tests in the Testing Center
The Testing Center, accommodates students with testing accommodations. Students who have testing accommodations have been approved by Accessible Education Services.

Students can fill out the Student Accommodation Request Form and send it by email to Accessible Education Services.
