Medical Assistant
The field of health care is rapidly evolving, and with that is the growing need for qualified medical assistants. The medical assistant program from Mt. Hood Community College is a nine-month certificate program, and will prepare you for a career in health care.
The Experience
Program Details
The medical assistant program uses a cohort model for all classes in the program. You start the program with your classmates, learn together, and graduate together. You will gain knowledge of the medical field, specialized skills, and practical experiences needed to be a medical assistant.
Your future
As a medical assistant, you will support doctors with the care of patients in a health care setting. This may include tasks such as showing patients to the exam room, taking vital signs, and performing medical procedures such as blood draws and injections.
How To Get Started
The medical assistant degree program begins once a year during the summer term. Any student admitted to MHCC can sign up for classes in the program after reading, writing, and math placement requirements have been met.
