AR 5010: Admissions

Admission of all students is centralized in the admissions, registration, and records office.  The college shall admit students who meet one of the following requirements:

General Admission: Mt. Hood Community College has an open-entry general admission policy and welcomes all students regardless of their educational background. Students 18 years of age or older who can benefit from instructional programs offered are eligible to enroll in any course for which they meet prerequisites. Some programs have additional admission requirements. See limited and restricted entry programs.

Underage Students: Students under 18 years of age who have not graduated from high school, have not been released from compulsory attendance or have not obtained a GED, must follow special admission procedures to enroll unless they are taking courses through an articulation agreement with their school district or other programs. Further information is included in AR 5011.

Co-Admission: Students can be admitted to both Mt. Hood Community College and its partner universities through a special application procedure.

Limited and Restricted Entry Programs: These programs have special admission standards, enrollment limits, application requirements and procedures for program acceptance and enrollment.

International Students: International students must follow the admission requirements and procedures for International Student admission.

Admissions policy and procedures are posted in the catalog and the college’s website.

The registrar shall be responsible for evaluating the validity of a student’s high school completion if the college or the United States Department of Education has reason to believe that the high school diploma is not valid or was not obtained from an entity that provides secondary school education.
