Degree Descriptions

Associate of Arts – Oregon Transfer (AAOT)

The AAOT degree is a program of study that community college students can follow to fulfill all their lower division general education requirements toward a Bachelor of Arts degree at an Oregon University System institution.

Associate of Science (AS)

The AS degree is designed for students who plan to transfer and complete a Bachelor of Science degree at a four-year institution. The degree requirements allow students more flexibility in course selection, allowing them to focus on their chosen-discipline requirements.

Associate of Science – Specialty

These degrees prepare students to transfer into upper division baccalaureate programs in the specified field of study at an Oregon University System institution.

Associate of Science – Oregon Transfer Degree in Business (ASOTB)

The ASOTB degree is a business degree designed for students who plan to transfer and complete a Bachelor of Science in Business degree at an Oregon University System institution.

Associate of Applied Science (AAS)

The AAS degree is intended to prepare graduates for direct entry into the workforce. Majors that offer an AAS degree are also known as career-technical programs.

Associate of General Studies (AGS)

The purpose of the general studies degree is to provide the student an opportunity to pursue a broad general education at a community college. It is intended as a flexible program for the student who is not pursuing a specified curriculum in the lower division transfer or career-technical area.

Associate of General Studies in Health Professions Exploration (AGSH)

The AGSH degree allows you the flexibility to complete prerequisites for most of MHCC’s health professions programs while exploring career options.
