Funeral Service Education

  • The Funeral Service Education Degree Program at Mt. Hood Community College has been active since 1970, and prepares students for the diverse needs within the industry. Students will be exposed to a curriculum that covers a wide variety of topics, including embalming, cremation, microbiology, pathology, funeral directing, counseling and management. Funeral professionals need to have a skill set that enables them to take care of the deceased, and of the bereaved, as well as the legal necessities that arise at the time of death. The number of choices for body disposition and memorialization is increasing continuously, and professionals need to apply the theory and practice that they begin to develop in the program, and then to grow their abilities in the workplace.
