  • Program Information

The Middle College program at MHCC is an early college opportunity for qualifying high school students enrolled in participating high schools. Middle College students take college classes at MHCC that earn them college credit and satisfy high school graduation requirements at the same time.

    The Experience

As a Middle College student, you are two things at once: a member of your home high school and a full or part-time college student. You are still able to participate in clubs, sports, dances, and your high school's graduation ceremony.

To ensure that you earn all the high school credits you need to graduate from high school, you will work closely with the Middle College Program Adviser to select college classes that will meet your high school's requirements.

During the fall, winter, and spring terms you will attend real college classes alongside traditional college students, and will be supported by the High School Services staff through your entire experience. Tuition, fees, and oftentimes books will be covered by your home high school up to a specific dollar amount.

It is possible for students beginning the program in the fall of their junior year to earn an Associate degree or Career Pathway Certificate along with their high school diploma or shortly after high school graduation.

    Getting Started

Interested students should ask their high school counselor for a Middle College application packet to complete and return to their high school counselor or administrator. The high school will review completed applications, and their counselor or high school administrator will notify approved students.
