Students walking on campus

Education

Teaching is a great career that is always in demand, and allows you to make a real impact. At Mt. Hood Community College, we can help you get your degree started. Depending on what you want to teach, you can transfer to a four-year university to complete your bachelor’s degree.

The Experience

Program Details

You can get a start on your teaching degree at MHCC. You will want to work with an advisor to determine the best courses of study based on the age group and subject you wish to teach.

Your future

Teachers are very important members of our communities. When you work as a teacher, you get to make a profound impact on children's lives, helping them learn and grow.

How To Get Started

You can start the education program during any term. Students admitted to MHCC can sign up for classes in the program after reading, writing, and math placement requirements have been met.

Learn more about courses and curriculum

If you are interested in teaching at the elementary level (Pre-K to sixth grade), you should follow a course of study that is multidisciplinary since you will teach many subjects. If you are interested in teaching at the secondary (middle or high school) level, you will want to follow a course of study that reflects the primary area you wish to teach (e.g., math, social science, science, health/PE, language arts, etc.).
