  • Samperi, Sanchez Named NATYCAA Scholar-Athletes

The National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) has announced its 2nd annual Scholar-Athlete Team for 2021. Mt. Hood's Ezra Samperi and Gabby Sanchez represented the NWAC as the Male and Female selections for District 9.

Samperi is a member of the Saints' baseball team while Sanchez is with the volleyball program. Both were then named Finalists for the NATYCAA Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award. Honorable Mention recepients from the NWAC also included Linn-Benton's Ruben Cedillo and Shalyn Gray.

Two years ago, the NATYCAA Officers approved an expanded Scholar-Athlete Awards Program, one which recognizes up to nine male and nine female honorees, one from each district in its membership. The district winners not only comprise the Scholar-Athlete team but are finalists for the NATYCAA Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award sponsored by Relation Insurance Solution.
