The MHCC Geography program examines the Earth’s climate and soil, forms and features of the land, and how people relate to it all. If you have strong analytical skills and are a critical thinker, a degree in Geography could be a great fit for you.

The MHCC Geography program examines the Earth’s climate and soil, forms and features of the land, and how people relate to it all, including topics like cultural geography, crime, and environmental change.Program Outcomes
After completing this program you'll be able to:
- Explain the dynamics of weather and climate on the planet.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of the various biomes on the Earth.
- Explain the political, economic, and environmental challenges faced in the different regions on Earth.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the main religious belief systems of the world.
- Explain the various environmental threats facing the planet today.
- Demonstrate the ability to interpret and create maps.
Courses and Curriculum
While pursuing the Geography major, you can complete courses toward the Social Science and elective requirements in your associate degree. Most of the courses available can easily be transferred to a four-year institution so you can go on to earn your bachelor’s degree if you choose to do so. Work with an advisor to make sure you are taking the right classes.
